Night at the Races

The Night at the Races is Tiger Water Polo's biggest fundraiser!


If you have never experienced the joy of betting on a horse race, you are in for a treat! We have a professional caller call out the horses (that attendees name) from old horse races we watch on a big screen. Some names are R-rated and others very cute or named for businesses. Buffet dinner and soft drinks are included in the cost of your ticket.


1) ATTIRE: We invite everyone to dress in traditional “derby” style fashion, if they’d like. Think Kentucky Derby attire! Wide-brimmed or fascinator hats on the ladies. Tropical colors in bold stripes or busy plaid and bright pastel pants for the gentlemen, or a classic navy or seersucker blazer is always in style. 


2) CASH: Bring your small bills for betting on the horse races. Bets are $2/horse, so ones and fives are appreciated.


3) CHECKBOOKS: Bring your checkbook, cash, or (new this year) your credit card when you win any baskets. Payment will be collected at the end of the evening for any baskets won.

5) BYOB: You are welcome to bring your own beer, wine, or spirits of choice. There will also be a cash bar with the same options, including mixers and garnishes, should you prefer, or if you run out of what you brought!


6) “BASKET OF CHEER”: One of our most popular items in our silent auction is our basket of cheer. This is a collection of top shelf alcohol and wine donated by our families & guests. Bring it the night of the event or email info@tigerwaterpolo to make arrangements for pickup if you can't come to the event.


7) VOLUNTEERS: During the horse races, we need 5 volunteers at a time to work the bidding table. These people simply sit at a table, take people’s money and hand them tickets. Easy, peasy! We’ll be asking our polo parents attending to take a turn at the table. It doesn’t have to be for all 10 races but we encourage you to take a shift at some point in the evening.  


8) HOURS & LOCATION: The doors will open at 6:15pm. We “officially” start checking everyone in at 6:30pm. Dinner will be served at 7 pm with races beginning at 7:30 and wrapping up by 10:30 pm.
